Father joins Falklands memorial visit
Dick Jones
Mr Jones plans to jot down his thoughts in the Falklands
The father and brother of a Northamptonshire soldier killed in the Falklands are joining the veterans' visit to mark the 20th anniversary of the war.

Craig Jones, of 3 Para, was 20 when he was killed by shelling on the day before the end of the conflict.

His father Dick Jones, who lives in Long Buckby, is travelling to the islands on Wednesday for the first time on a "pilgrimage" with about 200 veterans and relatives.

Mr Jones told BBC Radio Northamptonshire he did not know how he would react to the occasion.

"I've got a notebook, I shall take it and try and record these emotions at the time.

"Because obviously, thinking about it now, you don't know what emotions there will be.

"But when you actually step on the rock, looking around and wondering what was it all about, I think then different emotions will come into play."

Mr Jones plans to lay a wreath for his son at the Liberation Monument in Stanley.

The veterans will also attend the Remembrance Sunday service in the cathedral, and be taken to see war graves and other sites.

The pilgrimage has been organised by the South Atlantic Medal Association, and will be attended by the Duke of York.
