Organisers of a project to bring broadband internet technology to rural areas will hear on Tuesday if they will be given vital cash support.

EdenFaster plans to make internet connection 200 times quicker for people living in the Eden Valley, in Cumbria.

Organisers of the project hope to get money from the North West Development Agency Broadband Fund.

The scheme would bring high-speed internet access to 10,000 homes, 500 businesses and 50 schools in the Kirby Stephen area.

EdenFaster wants to install a �150,000 radio mast and a network of transmitters throughout the area.

They decided to act after broadband suppliers, such as BT, said it was not economically viable to wire-up rural areas like the Eden Valley .
