| Wednesday, 30 October, 2002, 09:50 GMT Wartime bomb closes station ![]() The station was closed for more than 30 minutes Derby railway station had to be evacuated and the surrounding area cordoned off after a suspected World War II bomb was found. It is believed unexploded bomb was uncovered during digging at Roundhouse Way near the station. A bomb disposal team has been sent to the station to determine whether it is a danger to the public. The train station was closed for more than 30 minutes, but re-opened to the public at about 0850 GMT on Wednesday. A small area around Pride Park is still cordoned off while experts assess the danger. Derbyshire police spokesman said: "The suspected bomb is around three or four inches in diameter and has fins on the back."
