Council officials will consider a report about the claims
A headteacher and her deputy have resigned after claims they taped shut a boy's mouth on a school trip.

Hilary Mynott, head of Lyons Hall County Primary School in Braintree, Essex, and assistant headteacher Chris Webb were accused of carrying out the punishment on a 10-year-old boy.

Both were suspended following the allegations in July.

A spokesman for Essex County Council, said: "The two teachers offered their resignations which were accepted.

"The governors have carried out an investigation into the allegation and the report is completed.

"The report will go to the education department to make a decision on whether they will be allowed to return in some capacity to the classroom."

The boy's mother claimed he was pinned down when he started swearing and misbehaving during a week-long camping trip to Wales in June.

It was claimed the teachers had taped his mouth shut, sat on him and held his nose.

A police investigation was not held into the alleged incident.
