Former Ipswich Town footballer Jason Cundy has backed a campaign to increase awareness of testicular cancer.

The defender, who played for Ipswich and Portsmouth, visited Ipswich Town Football Club and Norwich City Football Club on Wednesday to promote a new video called "Know your balls ...Check 'Em Out".

Mr Cundy suffered from testicular cancer five years ago and had one of his testicles removed, but recently pre-cancerous cells were discovered in his remaining testicle.

He told BBC News Online that it is important that people know about this cancer.

He welcomed the new video from the Orchid Cancer Appeal which is available free to all school across Suffolk and Norfolk.

"This really does break down the barriers there are when you talk to young people about testicular cancer," he said.

"It is vital that people know about testicular cancer."

Testicular cancer is the commonest form of cancer among men aged 15 to 40 years.
