Factory fire disrupts rush hour
Fire appliance
Five fire engines have been sent to the scene
A major fire at a Nottinghamshire factory has disrupted commuter traffic.

Up to 60 tonnes of wood were alight at Awsworth Palletts near the A610 Ikea junction in Awsworth.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area as smoke drifted across the road.

The fire was reported at around 0230 BST on Wednesday morning at the premises on Gin Close Way in Awsworth.

The site is part of an industrial estate, but also overlooks a residential area and the Ikea retail park.

Three fire engines fron Stockhill, one from Eastwood, and one from Ilkeston attended the scene.

Two water bowsers were also brought in to boost supplies.

The main A610 road was kept open despite smoke affecting the area.
