Graham Hicks, 41, of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, reached the Dutch coast late on Monday after leaving Sea Palling, Norfolk, 12 hours earlier. But his hopes of returning to Norfolk on Wednesday were scuppered by a combination of engine trouble and expected severe weather, a spokesman for Mr Hicks said on Tuesday night. The spokesman said: "Graham is still the first person to jet-ski from England to Holland and he feels that is a major achievement for anyone, let alone someone who is deaf and blind. "Very bad weather is predicted on Wednesday and to try and cross would have added to the engine problems and been impossible." Mr Hicks is raising money for the charity Deafblind UK. Mr Hicks, who was accompanied by a pillion passenger to help him navigate, was delayed by engine trouble as he crossed the North Sea to Holland. | See also: 09 Sep 02 | England 23 Jun 02 | Europe 15 Aug 01 | UK 24 Jun 99 | Health Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
