Protesters vow to fight road plan
Campaigners against a controversial link road in Mansfield want a judicial review after a government inspector ruled against them.

Protesters say the road that connects the Mansfield and Ashfield Regeneration Route, will cut through two large residential areas, just yards from a school.

The county council says the scheme could create thousands of jobs.

The inspector ruled the benefits of the scheme outweighed the campaigners' objections.

Old signs removed

Workers in Nottingham are removing several signs in the city centre that point to places which no longer exist.

One directs visitors to the Lace Hall, which closed its doors several years ago.

The council has responsibility for removing out-of-date signs, though the cost often has to be met by the organisations that put them up.

Fridge backlog

Officials in Nottingham are trying to catch up with a backlog of fridge and cooker collections.

Nottingham City Council says there has been a surge in calls from people over the summer who want their appliances collected.

The city is urging anyone with a problem to contact them.
