| Friday, 12 July, 2002, 12:43 GMT 13:43 UK Refugee family 'must leave UK' ![]() Supporters of the Ahmadi family held demonstrations An Afghan family seeking asylum in the West Midlands have been told they must leave the UK. Farid and Feriba Ahmadi and their two young children have until Friday night to voluntarily leave the country or they will be forcibly removed. They have been living in Lye near Stourbridge for the past year after fleeing the Taleban. However, the High Court has ruled they must return to Germany, the country they originally arrived from after leaving Afghanistan. Mosque refuge Supporters of the family say they do not want to return because they claim they suffered racial abuse in Germany. Several weeks ago, the family took refuge in their local mosque when they were told they faced deportation. Soraya Walton, a friend of the family and a campaigner, said: "The children have settled in this community and are doing well at school. "They are learning English and doing everything Mr Blunkett wants the refugees to do. They are good people." | See also: 25 Jun 02 | England 09 May 02 | England 27 Mar 02 | England 11 Feb 02 | England 06 Feb 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
