All the victims of the Potters Bar rail crash have been named.

Among them was the former head of BBC World Service and a great grandmother.

A reunion of three Taiwanese friends also ended in tragedy when two friends died and the third, renowned Hong Kong journalist Hai Jui-Liu, was left fighting for her life.

The seven victims lost their lives when the 1245 London to King's Lynn train careered off the tracks and into the station platform at Potters Bar on Friday.

Former nurse, 80-year-old Agnes Quinlivan - a great-grandmother of two and grandmother of eight, from Potters Bar, was returning on foot from Mass when she was struck by debris from the rail bridge as the train crashed.

Her friend Anne Youde, 75, said Mrs Quinlivan was a special minister who frequently took communion to the sick and described her as "happy and energetic".

She added: "It is a terrible tragedy, it is dreadful. I had known Agnes for around six years from church and we used to go out socially together.

"She was very happy and energetic and I shall miss her very much.

"My feelings go out to all the unfortunate souls who lost their loved ones."

Injuries

Mark Byford, the current director of BBC World Service, led tributes to Austen Kark who worked with the corporation for more than 30 years.

He said: "He was a highly cultured, intelligent and well-read individual with an enormous passion for the World Service."

Police said Jonael Schickler, 25, from East Sussex died at the scene, Alexander Ogonwusi, 42, from south west London, died from his injuries at Barnet General Hospital and Emma Knights, a 29-year-old from Cambridgeshire, died at the scene.

Other victims were 29-year-old Chia-hsin Lin from east London, who died at the scene, and Taiwanese TV journalist Chia-Chin Wu.

The 30-year-old's employers at Taiwan's TVBS cable news network confirmed that she died in Friday's tragedy.

The pair had been travelling with Hai Jui-Liu, who remains critically ill in the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead.

The 35-year-old, a prominent journalist in Hong Kong, is known to about 1.8 billion people because of her role as a television news anchorwoman.

Points fault

Ms Lin and Ms Liu were on holiday in the UK visiting Ms Wu.

The ten survivors who remain in hospital are spread across four medical units.

An 18-year-old man, who suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, is now stable on a general ward at the Royal Free Hospital.

Most survivors in other hospitals continued to make good progress, officials said.

One woman is stable in intensive care and another woman is on a high dependency ward but stable at Barnet General, where three other patients are recovering on a general ward.

Crash victims at Chase Farm Hospital and the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City are recovering on a general ward.

Investigators have confirmed a fault with one of the points near the Hertfordshire station was the cause of the crash.
