| Saturday, 8 June, 2002, 13:51 GMT 14:51 UK Arms sales to South Asia criticised Campaigners have called on the British government to stop arms sales to India and Pakistan. The pressure group, the Campaign Against the Arms Trade, has delivered a petition to the residence of the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in London. The group says that the British government is breaking its own ethical code on foreign policy by continuing to sell weapons to the two countries which are currently engaged in a tense military stand-off over Kashmir. The group says Britain sells up to sixty million pounds worth of weapons to India and a further six million pounds to Pakistan. The British government said last month that any future sales of weapons to south Asia would be decided on a case-by-case basis.
