| | Tuesday, 22 October, 2002, 19:39 GMT 20:39 UK In pictures: Israeli bus bombing Israel is in shock after the deadliest attack by Palestinian militants since June, but so far it has refrained from large-scale retaliation. A jeep packed with explosives rammed into a bus on Monday at a junction just outside the northern town of Hadera, igniting a fireball.  The funerals of those killed have been taking place  Fourteen people died in the blast, which was claimed by militant group Islamic Jihad  More than 40 people were injured  In response, Israel swiftly began to destroy the homes of Palestinians suspected of involvement in terror activity  But the response fell well short of the military strikes that usually follow such bomb attacks  The bus was engulfed by flames after the jeep packed with explosives rammed into it  Passers-by rushed to help  But for now all that is left is the shell of the burnt bus, which is being examined by forensic experts | |
