Iraqi TV has been showing footage of the country's army in training. The grainy images show what appear to be Iraqi cadets in combat fatigues as well as regular soldiers and women militia training on obstacle courses and handling firearms.

Bare-chested youngsters ran over obstacle courses in the blistering sun
The camera showed a rifle target featuring a cartoon marked: "This is a Zionist"
Troops in combat gear crawled under barbed wire...
...and run through fires - perhaps to make up for the lack of combat hardware on display
Most of the troops shown appeared very young but a few had the look of veterans
