Economic Overview The chancellor highlights substantial economic growth and a fall in net debt. Inflation is forecast at between 2.25 and 2.75%.
Business Tax Gordon Brown announces tax incentives for businesses including measures to boost urban regeneration.
Employment Investment in training, an increase in the minimum wage and efforts to help lone parents back into work are among the employment measures announced.
Transport and the environment The chancellor announces a reduction in licence fees and cuts in fuel prices while tax relief is offered to companies committed to cutting carbon emissions.
The chancellor promises to freeze duty on whisky, spirits, wine and beer. Beyond inflation there will be no rise in cigarette tax. Gambling taxes meanwhile, are abolished.
