Victorian home restored by couple
Inside the States of Jersey
The States paid 30% of the final cost of the project
A couple living in an historic home in Jersey's St Saviour have taken advantage of a States scheme to restore part of it.

The owners of Patier Lodge applied to have their modern windows replaced with Victorian replicas.

Built more than 200 years ago, Patier Lodge, which is situated near the parish hall, is a traditional granite-faced house.

Its owners, Steve and Karen Hassett, worked closely with the design and conservation section at the States planning department to find a suitable traditional style of window.

Under its Historic Building Repair Grant, the States pays 30% of the final cost of a project.

It awards grants to home-owners carrying out repairs to registered historic buildings.

With the help of the grant, the Hassetts replaced modern windows with new four-pane Victorian-style timber windows, made locally by Laffoley Carpentry and Joinery.
