Jersey's Milk Marketing Board chairman Andrew le Gallais welcomed a report into the industry's future. The independent review into Jersey's dairy industry said farmers and the Jersey Milk company must cut costs for the industry to survive. But it also called on the States to provide more funds, and quickly. Dr Donald McQueen, who carried out the review, said the States needed to provide about 340,000. If this was not done, he warned it could spell the end for dairy production. Mr Le Gallais said the situation facing dairy farmers was more than just acute and he hoped farmers would get behind the report. | See also: 11 Feb 03 | England 27 Nov 02 | England 15 Oct 02 | Wales 28 Aug 02 | Scotland 22 Aug 02 | Politics Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Europe stories now: Links to more Europe stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
