Public suggests bridge modifications
Artist's impression of the Waterfront bridge
Waterfront project: an artist's impression of the bridge
Changes have been made to the design for Jersey's Waterfront Bridge.

The proposed structure is to connect St Helier town to the Waterfront complex.

Members of the public had raised fears about objects being thrown over the sides onto passing cars, so the designers have made changes to the design to prevent this.

There are also measures to provide better shelter for people walking over the bridge.

New model

Feasibility studies are still being carried out and the cost of building the bridge is still being assessed.

But a new model of the bridge is to be shown in Jersey later this month.

Mike Taylor, the chief architect of the project, is also due to visit the island to give a presentation of the plans and answer questions.

Members of the public can attend this event, which will be at the Town Hall on 21 February.
