Former Hear'Say singer Myleene Klass could branch out into classical music following the group's demise, her mother has said.

Klass has been tipped to forge the most successful solo career of the five members after the split was announced on Tuesday.

Her parents say it is too soon to predict what will happen - but that one option would be to go back to classical music, which she studied before becoming a star.

"They have only just split up so they haven't got thoughts about what to do next on their minds, but she trained classically so that may be on the cards," her mother, Bong, told a local newspaper.

Hear'Say were created on hit ITV talent show Popstars.

The end came less than two years after the nation saw them shoot to stardom, breaking records with their first single.

The group blamed abuse from the public

They blamed public hostility and the rigours of music industry life for the break-up.

Bookmakers have made Klass favourite to have a solo hit.

She plays the piano and violin, and studied opera and music theatre at the Royal Academy of Music.

"I'm very proud of her achievements. She did well because she worked hard - she had to or she wouldn't have got this far," Mrs Klass told the Eastern Daily Press newspaper.

'Brutal'

Her father, Oscar, said his daughter was "very upset" at the split.

"Myleene did call us about the break-up. They had a meeting and they were unanimous and said they would split," he told the paper.

The singer earlier said Hear'Say had had a "brutal" education in the tough life within the music industry.

She added: "If I went to see a pop band I'd want 100% and we can't do that so we are splitting."

Brother Don Klass, an aspiring actor, said the abuse directed at his sister was unacceptable.

"It's not like she's a politician, she's in a pop group, you know?

"But I know that my sister will work twice as hard to build herself back up again."

Bookmakers Coral also gave Klass odds of 8/1 to appear in a bra advert.
