| Wednesday, 4 September, 2002, 08:45 GMT 09:45 UK Ash Wednesday: Your views ![]() Ethan Hawke was nominated for an Oscar for Training Day Ethan Hawke may be better known for his acting than his writing, but he is hoping to change that with his second novel, Ash Wednesday. The book tells the story of a young couple who go on a journey across America and have to confront their past, present and future along the way. "What carries it through is the strength of Hawke's characterisation and the crisp, up-front dialogue," says the BBC's Clare Gabriel. But what did you think? Is it a tale you can relate to? Is Ethan Hawke a talented novelist? I've always thought Ethan Hawke was a very talented actor, I remember watching him in The Dead Poets society when I was younger. I bought his first book simply because I had money in my pocket and a desire to do so. I also wanted to see if it was any good! I was more than impressed, it's very down to earth, doesn't try and be too clever and the characters, events and morals are very likeable. He has a definite talent for writing in my opinion. | See also: 04 Sep 02 | Entertainment 02 Sep 02 | Breakfast 21 Mar 02 | Oscars 2002 08 Oct 01 | Entertainment 22 Mar 02 | Oscars 2002 Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
