EastEnders star 'fine' after fall
Steve McFadden
McFadden: Not due to film for two weeks
EastEnders star Steve McFadden is "totally fine" after being airlifted to a Cornwall hospital for a dislocated shoulder.

The actor, who plays Phil Mitchell in the BBC soap, was discharged on Thursday morning after making a full recovery.

He has now returned to his holiday in the Isles of Scilly with his daughter and his girlfriend, EastEnders co-star Lucy Benjamin.

"I was playing with my daughter Teona on the beach and fell awkwardly," he said.

"I dislocated my shoulder which I've done before - it's an old injury.

"I'm totally fine now."

The accident occured on a beach near the hotel on the island of St Mary.

He made his own way to the island's cottage hospital.

Helicopter

The actor, who has a home in Falmouth, Cornwall, had moored his 18-foot cabin cruiser in the island's harbour for the summer.

He was initially treated at St Mary's Hospital but then flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Truro by a Royal Navy helicopter on the advice of a consultant.

St Mary's has only a minor injuries unit and was not equipped to cope with his injury, prompting his transfer to the mainland.

An EastEnders spokeswoman said the actor had made "a full recovery".

"He is on holiday and is not scheduled to be filming for two weeks so we do not anticipate any disruption," she said.
