| Saturday, 10 August, 2002, 15:31 GMT 16:31 UK Ex-Hear'Say star weds EastEnder ![]() Marsh and Ryder married at St Albans Abbey Former Hear'Say singer Kym Marsh has wed actor Jack Ryder in the latest celebrity marriage. Marsh, 26, and Ryder, 20 - known for playing Jamie Mitchell in BBC One soap EastEnders - tied the knot at the majestic abbey in St Albans, Hertfordshire on Saturday. Marsh - who left Hear'Say in January after less than a year - wore a dress costing a reported 6,000. But pictures of the gown - and the day's celebrations as a whole - have so far been kept out of the press.
The couple are said to have followed the example of many showbusiness couples by signing an exclusive deal for the pictures with a glossy magazine. The guests invited to the ceremony included a number of the couple's celebrity friends - including EastEnders stars Steve McFadden and Barbara Windsor - but not Marsh's former Hear'Say colleagues. Her split from the group - formed from winners of the ITV talent show Popstars - was widely rumoured to have been caused by her having quarrelled with fellow group member Myleene Kass. But the formal reason given was that she wanted to spend more time with her two young children and that her priorities had changed.
Since leaving Hear'Say, Marsh has been looking into making a go of a solo career. Meanwhile, Ryder announced in March that he was quitting his role as Phil Mitchell's cousin in EastEnders. He will leave when his contract expires, in November, to pursue new ambitions, he said in a statement. He said it was a tough decision to make, but that he wanted to try other roles. Viewers will still see Ryder on screen until early 2003. | See also: 25 Jan 02 | Entertainment 24 Jan 02 | Entertainment 01 Mar 02 | Entertainment 05 Feb 01 | Entertainment Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
