| Thursday, 11 July, 2002, 17:11 GMT 18:11 UK Led Zeppelin star 'fled gig' Robert Plant has admitted he tried to sneak into a Led Zeppelin tribute act gig - but fled when he was spotted. The former Led Zeppelin star told Q magazine he went to the concert at a London pub to experience how his fans may have seen him up on stage. "Somebody told me about this band and I knew how ridiculous I looked then - I mean I look ridiculous now - but I wanted to see how other people saw me," he said. But he panicked when noticed by fans, "I thought what do I do now? Do I have to get up and do The Battle Of Evermore with this guy? So I turned and fled," he added. Springsteen back on the streets Bruce Springsteen and the E Streeters are poised to hit the road for their first world tour in two years. The tour kicks off in New Jersey on 7 August , and is set to visit 39 US cities plus seven more dates in Europe. The tour will follow the planned 30 July release of Springsteen's new album The Rising - his first studio recording with the E Street Band in 18 years. In April 1999, the band launched a reunion tour in Barcelona ending with a gig the following year in New York. Reynolds says long live the Western Film star Burt Reynolds believes Western movies still have a place in Hollywood - as long as actors can really ride the horses. The actor has just finished filming a four hour US television Western, Johnson County War, about a family of homesteaders fighting cattle barons. He said when he started out as an actor in the 1950s, Westerns were ten-a-penny. "If you do a bad one, and there's a lot of bad ones made, unfortunately, it just kills the genre," he said. Spielberg pledges $12m to horse riding land Director Steven Spielberg and his actress wife Kate Capshaw have donated $12m (7.7m) to save a horse riding area near their home. The money, donated to the Sullivan Canyon Preservation Association, will ensure the land in Los Angeles will continue to be an open space for horse riding. The land was originally bought in 1961 for the development of new houses but was never used. Spielberg and his wife have a home and riding ring next to the eight acre site. | Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
