Up for Grabs: Your views
Fans queue to see Madonna
Madonna is appearing at Wyndham's until 13 July
It has been 14 years since the queen of pop tried her hand at stage acting but now Madonna is back treading the boards in her role as an art dealer in Up For Grabs in London's West End.

Tickets have been sold out for months, with fans desperate to catch a glimpse of their idol at close quarters.

Madonna's film acting has received mixed responses in the past but what of her efforts live on stage?

"While she is painfully lacking in the stagecraft and projection departments, she has a charm and charisma that always makes her the centre of attention," said the BBC's Neil Smith, who saw the first preview on 13 May.

But what do you think?

Has she improved as the performances have gone on? Is the play a suitable vehicle for her talents?

Have your say

While I agree that Madonna's acting skills aren't going to win her an Oscar in the near future I think that she performed extremely well. The play is well written, hilariously funny and well acted by the entire cast. Madonna has an excellent sense of comic timing and was able to go from comic to deeply tragic in an instant.

She has, as always, a powerful stage presence and easily wins over the audience. For the first time her efforts allowed her audience to forget they were watching a legend, but accept her as the character she plays. An excellent play all round. Our Lady done good.
Paul, London, UK

One word ... fantastic. When the curtains opened, there she was standing alone under a single spotlight. Her little voice was hard to hear at first. Then she got her first laugh and away she went. Her comic timing was fantastic and her acting ability, whilst not as good as the others, was still professional, believable and far superior to how she appears on stage. The end of the play came far too soon. The whole house erupted at the end and she was genuinely touched and grateful for such a warm response. I wish I could go and see it again. The girl really did do good!!!
A Walker, England

It's a great play. If anyone hasn't seen it - go on! It's funny, tragic, romantic, all rolled into one. Madonna - I'm proud of you!
Simon Burrows, United Kingdom

I thought she turned in a fine performance. The atmosphere in the small theatre was electric. Although she was supported by a first class ensemble Madonna was really good. The critics this morning were far too harsh. The play might as well be called "The Madonna Show" as she is the one receiving all the reviews and taking all the slack for its short-comings this morning. She wasn't perfect but she put in a very imnpressive performance.
Razia Parveen, England

I saw the show a few weeks ago and I thought it was excellent. My only gripe is that in Madonna's dialogues she spent too much time waving her hands about - trying too hard to please the audience - but nonetheless, she was pretty good.
Rob, UK

I saw the first two previews and I was surprised how good she was. Of course she was nervous in the beginning - I mean, the whole world is watching you. The play is funny and outrageous And Madonna was amazing!
Floris, Holland

I was one of the lucky few who attended the opening night of Madonna's latest vehicle, Up For Grabs.

With Madonna you get two things; professionalism and devotion, and she does these well. However, her acting in Up For Grabs was wholly disappointing. The ego did not land and Madge's perfunctory performance echoed, it was so hollow.

The storyline and plot very much suits her public persona and one only hopes that she improves in the coming weeks. I'm sure she will grow into the part and when she does magic will follow.

The glitterati will be queuing up in their thousands to show support to their new best friend, all vying for a chance to be spoken about in the same context as the mighty Madge. It is her first public outing in her newly-claimed British Empire after all.

So, this project is bound to be financially successful. That's if too many free tickets aren't dished out to every Z-list celebrity in return for some low-key counter publicity.

A resounding success, methinks.

Good Luck Madge
Miles Davison, UK

The play itself is very simple, and Madonna's acting is fairly good, I would give her 3.5 out of 5 but she is great on stage, people go to see her as an object rather than to see the comedy. I still enjoyed it and admired Madonna and definitely will go and see you again!
Denis, England

Absolutely wonderful. I saw it on Friday and was bowled over by her performance. Well done Madonna.
Alf Huckett, Kazakhstan

I saw the fourth show and was really impressed by Madonna as well as the rest of the cast. Good job, Madonna!!!
Eiler Fagraklett, Faroe Islands

Madonna is just amazing - what she lacks in raw acting ability she more than makes up for with sheer stage presence. Above all Up For Grabs is a wonderfully funny play that anyone can enjoy.
Gareth, Scotland
