| Tuesday, 12 November, 2002, 14:49 GMT Doorstep selling review 'under way' The UK's trading watchdog has launched a "wide-ranging" investigation into doorstep selling, following a complaint from a leading consumer group. The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) formally announced the report following a "super-complaint" from the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux (Nacab). Under The Enterprise Act, a number of bodies, such as Nacab and the Consumers' Association can refer fast-track complaints to the OFT. In a statement, the OFT said it would launch a thorough investigation into doorstep selling, and also the issue of credit. The announcement was welcomed by David Harker, chief executive of Nacab. He said: "We are delighted that the OFT has recognised the need for an investigation of doorstep selling based on the strength of the evidence we presented to them in September when we lodged our super-complaint." The OFT said its report would be completed within a year. | See also: 12 Nov 02 | Business 10 Oct 02 | Business 04 Sep 02 | Business 03 Sep 02 | Working Lunch 24 Oct 98 | Health Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Business stories now: Links to more Business stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
