Thousands of rap music fans and some of the biggest names in hip-hop have attended the funeral in New York of Run-DMC star Jam Master Jay (real name Jason Mizell), who was shot by a masked gunman in his recording studio last week. 
Pallbearers clad in the DJ's trademark garb of black leather and white Adidas trainers carried the coffin
The funeral took place at the Allen AME Cathedral in the rapper's native Queens borough
A who's who of hip-hop music and thousands of fans paid their last respects to the slain star
Bandmate Darryl DMC McDaniels said Jay "was the embodiment of hip-hop" and wished "peace for everybody"
