Three mothers who wrote and recorded their own football song in tribute to Swansea City have signed up some of the players to appear in the video.

Sally Cullen, Judith Thomas and Hayley Mogridge from Bonymaen are hoping their track Who Are We will be hit with fans.

The trio said they wrote the song to put a smile of supporters faces after negative publicity due to crowd trouble after September's Cardiff City derby.

Manger Roberto Martinez and around half a dozen players feature in the video.

The women hope to raise money for the city's Singleton Hospital by selling DVDs of their efforts.

Sally said: "We're all big fans of the Swans and take our kids to watch them.

"We decided to write and record the song after some of the negative publicity surrounding supporters of the club following the Cardiff game in the Carling Cup.

Hayley added: "We have had loads of positive feedback from it.

"We are hoping we can sell it and donate the money to ward eleven at Singleton Hospital because that's where my mother was treated before she died."

They admit that prior to using the recording facilities at the Communities First offices in Bonymaen the extent of their performing experiences was limited to karaoke.

The club invited the women to the Liberty Stadium to record a video to go with the song with players including Leon Britton, Angel Rangel and Jordi Gomez appearing in the video.

Filming took place in the stands, at pitch side and they were joined on the bench by manager Martinez.

Right-back Rangel admitted he did not understand many of the lyrics but said he was happy to join in.

"We enjoy it when the fans get behind the team," he added.

The Music@Bonymaen project has seen scores of people of all ages trying their hand at writing and recording songs.

A Swansea City FC spokesperson said: "We're proud that three local mums feel passionate enough to put their love of the Swans into song.

"Supporting the Swans these days really is a family affair and we're looking forward to playing the song in the stadium at one of our forthcoming games."
