Kalan Kawa Karim was attacked outside a Swansea pub |
A youth arrested in connection with the killing of an Iraqi Kurd refugee in Swansea has been released, police have said. Kalan Kawa Karim, 29, died after being attacked outside a pub on the Kingsway in the early hours of 6 September.
The youth, who was arrested on Wednesday, has been bailed after questioning. A 30-year-old man is continuing to help with inquiries. On Tuesday, a man appeared before the city's magistrates charged with murder.
Lee Mordecai, 26, from Swansea, was remanded in custody until September 24, when he will appear at Swansea Crown Court.
Police say that the investigation will continue.
They want to speak to a youth seen on CCTV at 2344BST on 5 September on the Kingsway, at a bus stop near to the McDonalds restaurant.
Detectives hope this man can provide information and in a statement issued on Wednesday they described him as having a "dark European appearance, with shoulder-length dark hair, in his twenties, with a goatee beard."
He was wearing a beige top with red arms, and blue jeans.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office has confirmed it will help to return the body of Mr Karim to northern Iraq.
Mr Karim's wife and parents wish to bury his body in his home city of Dahuk in northern Iraq.
Following the plea from his family a senior official from the Foreign Office has told the Swansea East MP, Donald Anderson, the Government will intervene to cut through the red tape and return his body to his homeland.
