Parents should contact schools directly to see if they are open on Friday after more than 200 closed across south west Wales on Thursday because of heavy snowfall. Day centres were also shut, bin collections cancelled and some bus services suspended in the morning.
The weather has also affected some hospital services in the region.
Most roads were open by the afternoon but gritters and snow-ploughs were scheduled to work into the early hours of Friday because more downfalls were predicted.

Every school in Carmarthenshire was shut on Thursday along with Coleg Sir Gar and Trinity College.
All secondary schools in Swansea were closed and just two primary schools in the city opened.
The weather also affected Pembrokeshire although only five schools, - Ysgol y Preseli, Brynconin, Glandwr, Crymych and Maenclochog - were reported closed.
Twenty-eight schools in the Neath and Port Talbot area were shut.
Emergency services across the region dealt with a number of weather-related accidents.
These included a lorry in Burry Port which had skidded off the road and a two-car collision on the A487 near Llwyncefn in Pembrokeshire.

A spokesman for Carmarthenshire Council said: "Officers have been battling through the night to keep Carmarthenshire as accessible as possible after heavy snowfall.
"Gritter lorries were out until 0400 GMT, while 24 snow-ploughs have been concentrating on keeping primary roads open."
The AA said its patrols were busy in the Swansea area where snow was lying two to six inches deep in some parts.
"Although many motorists have heeded the warnings, some are still facing problems with their vehicles because of the weather," said a spokeswoman.
Some clinics at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest were cancelled due to doctors being unable to get into work.
A public meeting to discuss policing issues in the Carmarthen area due to take place at police headquarters in Llangunnor on Thursday evening was postponed due to the weather.
A spokesman for Swansea Council said the authority was expecting more snow on Thursday night.
He said: "Staff have worked throughout the day to provide services for customers.
"Our highways team worked throughout Wednesday night and will do so again tonight to minimise disruption to roads in the morning."
