A party of walkers was trapped by two rising streams, rescuers said

Gwyn Roberts, chairman of Llanberis mountain rescue team, said some streams on Snowdon were currently "chest high and dangerous".

A party had to be rescued by rope over the weekend after being caught between two rising streams on the mountain.

Weather forecasters are predicting more heavy rain throughout Monday.

Mr Roberts said the rescue team had been involved in 10 incidents in just over a week.

On Saturday, three men were brought down after being stuck on a ledge in the darkness, trapped between two streams.

One of the men, aged 45, was from Pontypridd and the others, aged 22 and 48 respectively, from Nottingham.

Mr Roberts said: "Streams are in spate because of melting snow and also heavy rain. They are chest high and very dangerous.

"Despite the warmer weather snow is still lying quite hard on the peaks."

The Met Office has said rain will become heavier during Monday, with gale force winds over summits with severe gales possible.
