Estate 'crackhouse' closed down
Magistrates in Wrexham have issued a closure notice on a so-called "crackhouse" in the town.

It follows complaints from people living on the Caia Park estate about the property at Y Wern.

The house has been boarded up by Wrexham council and North Wales police and it is now illegal for anyone to enter during the next three months.

Sgt Darren Jacks said: "This is the latest episode in the fight against drugs and crime in the Caia Park area."

Closure orders were first introduced in 2003, and give courts the power to stop anyone using a property if magistrates are satisfied that the premises are connected with Class A drugs such as heroin and crack cocaine.

Crackdown

North Wales Police insisted the latest order is part of an overall crackdown on drug misuse in the area.

"In partnership with the local council and communities first we have seen significant improvements," added Sgt Jacks.

"There is no longer drug dealing in the streets and we have arrested a significant number of dealers - sent them to prison and taken their homes away from them. We will continue to do so until the job is done.

"The Caia Park community policing team would like to thank the residents for their continued support and would encourage anyone with information about drugs and drug crime to contact us."
