The sons of a woman stabbed to death in front of her family after their father forced his way into her home say she suffered years of domestic violence. Tracey Jones, of Wrexham, was killed on Saturday, the day before she would have been 41. Her ex-partner, Michael Evans, was later found hanged in his garage.
Her sons said she had left the family home in Llay 18 months ago to move in with her brother, who was also stabbed, and is "stable" in intensive care.
Inquests are due to open on Tuesday.
In a statement from the family on Monday, Andrew Evans, 22, and his brother Nathan described their mother as the "greatest, most loving person" they had ever known.
Details of her death had already emerged from police who said that her partner Michael Evans forced his way into her brother's Wrexham home. Once inside, he repeatedly stabbed her.
'Helping others'
Police were called to the house in Empress Road at 1030 GMT on Saturday after reports of a disturbance. They later went to the house in Llay where Mr Evans was found hanged in a garage.
The couple had been together since they were teenagers but 18 months ago, Ms Jones left her family home and moved in with her brother Barry Jones, his wife Liz and their three children.
Urging anyone else suffering at the hands of their partner to contact police, the sons said: "Mum had done nothing wrong. She was just too frightened to leave the house because of all the threats and the punishment from him.
"She spent her whole life helping others yet she never helped herself.

"She was a very trendy, fashionable woman, who was always immaculately dressed," said Andrew Evans.
"She had all the latest designs in clothes yet she was never allowed out."
Ms Jones' sister-in-law Liz said: "She only started to live 18 months ago, after she moved into our 'happy house' as she called it.
"She was not only my sister-in-law, but my friend too. She did not deserve to die in such tragic circumstances."
Nathan Evans said his father "was always generous to me, he was a great dad, despite the way he was with others".
Michael Evans had worked for six years as a taxi driver in Llay. John Groves, who owns the firm, said he was devastated by what happened. "It's hard to accept," he said.
He described the dead man as a "happy-go lucky character". He had worked last Friday but seemed fine, and said "there were no warning signs".
North Wales Police want to speak to anyone who saw Mr Evans in his red Rover 420, registration P451 PRF, being driven to Ms Jones' home in Empress Road, and later back to Mr Evans' house in Victory Place, Llay.
Senior investigating officer Det Supt Peter Chalinor said police "believe that no one else was involved. We believe that for whatever reason Mr Evans forced his way in and committed this assault on his ex-partner Tracey".
