Family tribute to murdered teen

The family of a north Wales teenager stabbed to death whilst on a night out in Colwyn Bay have paid tribute to the "caring and polite" youngster.

Benjamin Jones, 18, was stabbed on Friday evening in the Dundonald Road area of the seaside town.

Christopher Lee Johnson from the Manchester area has appeared in court charged with his murder.

Ben was the youngest of three children and they were all very close.

His family said the teenager, who was a keen sportsman, was especially close to his mother and brothers Neil, 26, and Ian, 25.

In a statement issued by North Wales Police his family have painted their picture of Ben.

"He always had a smile on his face. He was a very caring, polite person who was always good humoured and had time for everyone whatever their age," they said.

They added he was a "great fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and although he had studied catering at Llandrillo, he always had a belief that he would be discovered one day as a musician".

Mr Jones was pronounced dead after being taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, by ambulance.

His family said they take comfort from the fact that he was surrounded by his friends when they incident happened.

"We are a close family and take an enormous amount of comfort in the fact that he was not alone when he died," they said.

Christopher Johnson, charged with the teenager's murder, has been remanded in custody and the case sent to Caernarfon Crown Court. There was no application for bail.
