Knife found in teen murder case

Police investigating the killing a teenager in north Wales have found a knife in woodland not far from where he died.

Benjamin Jones, 18, of Colwyn Bay, was stabbed while on a night out in the town on Friday.

A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged with his murder.

Christopher Lee Johnson from the Manchester area, appeared briefly before Llandudno magistrates on Monday.

He was remanded in custody and the case was sent to Caernarfon Crown Court. There was no application for bail.

In court he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address in Warwick Road, Old Trafford.

Mr Jones was stabbed on Friday evening in the Dundonald Road area of Colwyn Bay.

He was pronounced dead after being taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan, by ambulance.

The teenager had been studying to become a chef at Llandrillo Technical College in Rhos-on-Sea.

Detectives have reissued an appeal for witnesses.

In a statement issued via North Wales Police, Mr Jones' family said they were devastated and asked for anyone with information to contact police.
