Chief's daughter in speed claim
Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom
Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom has attacked speeding drivers
The daughter of speed critic, North Wales Police Chief Richard Brunstrom, is waiting to hear if she will be prosecuted over claims she broke the speed limit.

The Sun newspaper claims its reporters used a radar gun to catch Kate Brunstrom, 18, driving at 69mph along a 50mph limit road.

The Crown Prosecution Service(CPS) is reviewing the material before deciding on whether to take action.

Her father has led a crackdown on speeding motorists, and recently compared a 71-year-old man to a "17-year-old yob" for complaining about being fined.

The CPS confirmed on Friday they had received documents and material from North Wales Police relating to the 18-year-old's case.

Chief Crown Prosecutor in north Wales Glynn Rankin is reviewing all material supplied and has sought further opinion from a Chief Crown Prosecutor in another area.

Officers fined

Last month, The Sun claimed its reporters had used a speed gun to record Miss Brunstrom breaking the limit whilst driving her family's Ford Focus near Llandudno Junction.

Mr Brunstrom has previously described speeding motorists as "anti-social" and "criminals".

In July he denied claims he was obsessed with catching speeding motorists at the expense of fighting crime.

Last month12 of his own officers were caught speeding - whilst using police cars, by anti-speeding campaign Arrive Alive.

The drivers were found to have no legitimate excuse and received three points on their licence and a 60 fine.
