Brunstrom daughter 'speeding' probe
Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom
Mr Brunstrom has called speeders 'anti-social'
The daughter of North Wales Police chief Richard Brunstrom - an outspoken critic of speeding drivers - is being investigated over claims she broke the speed limit.

Kate Brunstrom, 18, was allegedly recorded by reporters from a tabloid newspaper driving along a 50mph limit road near Llandudno Junction, north Wales, at 61mph and 69mph on two separate occasions.

Her father has led a crackdown on speeding motorists, and recently compared a 71-year-old man to a "17-year-old yob" for complaining about being fined.

The Criminal Prosecution Service outside North Wales is dealing with the investigation.

Last week, The Sun claimed its reporters had used a speed gun to record Ms Brunstrom breaking the limit while driving her family's Ford Focus.

Criticism

A North Wales Police spokeswoman said at the time it would investigate claims of speeding against anybody.

Now the paper has sent its evidence to the force and an investigation is underway.

A police spokesman said: "Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations, the matter will be dealt with by the Crown Prosecution Service outside the north Wales area."

Mr Brunstrom has spearheaded an anti-speeding campaign which has caught 32,333 drivers in five months.

But it has prompted criticism that officers from the force are spending too much time concentrating on speeding.

However, Mr Brunstrom has defended the stance, calling speeding "a form of anti-social behaviour".
