A major employer in a Powys town has called in the administrators, putting 50 jobs at risk. Benson Heating of Knighton supplies products for the industrial sector and has been in business for more than 50 years. Talks are being held to see if the company can be saved with a local takeover or management buy-out. Town mayor Roger Bright said the news was a "terrible blow" for the area and he hoped a buyer could be found. Local businessman Roy Edwards, who owns the factory occupied by Benson Heating, confirmed the firm was calling in the administrators. "Benson Heating in calling in the administrators, but we are desperately trying to carry the business on by means of a local takeover or management buy-out," he said. 'Devastated' "Fifty jobs are under threat in Knighton and as the landlord of the 90,000 sq ft site we are trying to help and support Benson Heating all we can." Councillor Bright added that he hoped another company would save the business. "This is a terrible blow for the town," he added. "We are really devastated by the possible loss of these jobs."
