The summer bus service had been in operation since 2004 |
A summer bus service linking towns, villages and beaches along the mid Wales coast is stopping after running out of money. Both tourists and local people used Cardi Bach - named after a train service which once ran in Ceredigion - between Cardigan and New Quay.
The service had been paid for by European Objective 1 funding since 2004.
Ceredigion Council said it would try and get it back on the road next year.
The link had been devised with cyclists in mind and designed to provide an economic boost to areas off the main tourist track.
The "hail and ride" service passed through the communities of Ferwig, Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith, Penbryn, Llangrannog and Cwmtydu.
'2007 onwards'
A council spokeswoman said: "The Cardi Bach bus scheme will not be running this summer.
"The service has been well received and it is something that will be discussed within the council, in the hope that funding can be identified to maintain the service from 2007 onwards."
The spokesman said there had been enough European funding for only two years and the council was unable to fund the service itself this year because its budget had already been set.
