The bus provides a public transport option for tourists along the coast |
A new summer bus service has been launched, aimed at linking up towns and villages along the mid Wales coast. Named after a train service which once operated in Ceredigion, Cardi Bach will serve tourists and local people between Cardigan and New Quay.
Ceredigion Council says the bus will also provide an economic boost to areas off the main tourist track.
The bus will operate on a 'hail and ride' basis and passengers can get on or off at any point along the route - provided it is safe to do so.
Operating until 25 September from Monday to Saturday, it passes through the communities of Ferwig, Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith, Penbryn, Llangrannog and Cwmtydu.
"The bus will also make getting to beaches easier, especially for those locals who do not have direct access to a car," said a council spokeswoman.
"It will also help walkers gain access to coastal footpaths without having to use a car."
The coastal bus can also carry two bicycles.
Cardi Bach bus service is a pilot project supported under the Objective One Ceredigion coast path project.
The council hopes it will give public transport access to small beaches such as Mwnt and Cwm Tydu.
