Wales stars in Bollywood film
Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai star in Bollywood's Devdas
Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai will star in the film
Cameras have started rolling capturing the beauty of Welsh scenery for a major new Indian film.

A song and dance sequence for the Bollywood film Kyoni! Ho Gaya Na Pyar (Love Has Finally Happened) is underway at Dolbadarn Castle and the Llanberis mountain railway in north Wales.

The production team will then move on to mid Wales to a forest setting in the Neath valley for three days to film at the Rheola forest car rally track.

The locations were chosen following a Wales Screen Commission trip to India in November, which led to a meeting with Bollywood's most senior producer.

The film features the former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai, in one of the leading roles.

Wales has a wealth of stunning locations and we are clearly succeeding in impressing producers with what we have to offer
Mike Wallwork
According to Mike Wallwork, the national co-ordinator for the commission, contacts made during the trip to India are now paying dividends for Wales.

"One of the main ingredients of a Bollywood film is the song and dance sequence set against a picturesque backdrop.

"Wales has a wealth of stunning locations and we are clearly succeeding in impressing producers with what we have to offer.

"The Bollywood film industry is the largest in the world - both in terms of the number of films produced and the audiences worldwide," he said.

The film's makers, Narsimha Enterprises from Mumbai, are one of the biggest Bollywood studios to shoot in Wales to date.

Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider
Angelina Jolie was "enchanted" with north Wales
Rajat Rawail from the company said: "We chose Wales to film because of its stunning scenery and natural beauty, and the locations selected were perfect for achieving the desired look for the scenes.

"The Wales Screen Commission have also gone out of their way to ensure that the Indian crew receive the best possible treatment."

The film, a romantic comedy, follows the lives of two young lovers from different cultural backgrounds brought together by a similar sense of humour and worldview.

Snowdonia will provide the backdrop for a dream-like sequence in the film, using both rugged settings and lush greenery for different parts.

Wales has lent its scenery to a number of blockbusting Hollywood films.

Sequences for the most recent James Bond film Die Another Day were shot in west Wales.

Meanwhile Snowdonia took a starring role yet again in Tomb Raider II, starring Angelina Jolie.

The actress returned to north Wales earlier this year to record The Fever, along with Vanessa Redgrave.
