Charlotte Church shares her Cardiff home with Gavin Henson |
A 16ft fence put up without planning permission by chat show host Charlotte Church may be allowed to stay. The 20-year-old singer had the wooden archway built above 10ft metal gates at the house she shares in Llandaff, Cardiff, with rugby star Gavin Henson.
She applied for retrospective planning permission following complaints by several neighbours.
Cardiff Council planners are expected to recommend that Church is allowed to keep the fence.
The wooden fence was added in late 2006 to the 10ft (3m) metal gates the former child star had installed at the house months after moving in at the end of 2005.
Three letters of objection were received by the council from residents describing the fence as "an eyesore" that was "more in keeping with a set from a cowboy western film".
Objectors also said the fence, which is more than three metres high in places, was "amateurish" and spoiled garden views.

But, in a report recommending approval, chief planning officer Sean Hannaby said he did not consider the fence to be offensive or overbearing for neighbours.
Instead, Mr Hannaby said: "It is considered that the detailing of the boundary treatment shows individuality and originality."
Cardiff's planning committee will consider the recommendation to approve the application at its meeting on 17 January.
