Morgan pays trade visit to China
Rhodri Morgan
This is Rhodri Morgan's fourth trade trip to China
Representatives of 18 companies are joining First Minister Rhodri Morgan on a trade mission to China.

It is the fourth such trip by Mr Morgan since 2001 to the country, which is Wales' 10th largest export market.

The trip has been organised by Wales Trade International, the overseas trade arm of the assembly government.

Mr Morgan will officially open the Wales stand at the China International Fair for Trade and Investment in Xiamen.

He will also attend an investment forum attended by ministers and business leaders from around the world.

During the trip, the visitors will spend time in Beijing and Shanghai.

Previous trade missions to China have generated sales in excess of 1.2m for Welsh companies according to the assembly government.

Mr Morgan said: "International trade missions are a proven method of accessing global trade opportunities and enable us to create lasting and beneficial trade alliances.

"Previous participants have enjoyed great success in identifying and securing new markets for their products and services and I have every confidence that this trade mission will be equally successful."

Mr Morgan will also meet Welsh companies who are already trading in the Chinese market, as well as potential inward investors into Wales.
