Paul Child has now performed at the stadium twice |
A symbol of good luck was brought back to help the Welsh rugby team defeat Scotland in Cardiff. Paul Child, from Bridgend, had sung the Welsh national anthem in the last match that Wales won at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff - against Canada in November 2002.
And he returned to sing at the final Wales warm-up match before the squad travel to Australia for the Rugby World Cup in October.
Mr Child, who is a big Welsh rugby fan, then settled back to see Steve Hansen's men defeat Scotland 23-9 in a morale-boosting victory.
"It is an incredible experience for any singer to go and sing at the Millennium Stadium," he said.
"If I was asked I would do it every single time."
Mr Child, who will be touring Australia alongside Max Boyce during the World Cup, admitted that singing at the stadium can be difficult.
Steve Hansen watched Wales win for the second match running |
"You have to make sure you are leading the crowd rather than them lead you," he said.
"You must stick to what you are doing, make sure you stick to the time and eventually they will follow you."
Mr Child added that a series of disappointing defeats had demoralised the crowd, and a win against Scotland had been crucial to get "the hwyl back and the crowd singing".
Until Wales beat Romania 54-8 on Wednesday, the team was on an 11-game losing streak.
This poor run included a Six Nations whitewash, defeats on tour to Australia and New Zealand, and recent demoralising losses against England and Ireland.
