Gerald Baker was arrested in Spain after first being found in Gibraltar |
Detectives are due to fly out to Spain later this week to bring back a registered sex offender who allegedly abducted his son. Gerald Baker, 46, from Brynmawr, south Wales, will be extradited to Britain after spending almost two months on the run.
The sex offender and his wife Helene Baker, 37, from Blaenavon near Pontypool, fled abroad with their 10-month-old son in August.
Officers from Gwent Police are flying out to Spain to accompany Mr Baker back to south Wales this week, a force spokesman has confirmed.
The baby - who was in the care of social services - was not returned following an unsupervised access visit by Mrs Baker at Ebbw Vale.
Arrested
She had been allowed unsupervised contact with her baby boy, who had been living with foster parents, for more than four months,
But after the one hour visit on 19 August, the couple disappeared with the baby.
It was initially thought they had fled to France.
But with the help of Interpol and foreign police forces the Bakers were eventually tracked down to Gibraltar last month.
The pair were later arrested in Spain.
Meanwhile the baby has been taken into social services care in Gibraltar.
