A 13-year-old boy has died after being hit by a public service double-decker bus. Luke Tanhai suffered fatal injuries when the Cardiff Bus vehicle collided with him near Roath Park at 1610 BST on Monday in a suburb of the city.
He was taken the University Hospital of Wales but was pronounced dead.
In a statement his family said they were devasted by his sudden death.
"We will all miss him desperately he was such a loved, wonderful boy who had so much good to give in his life.
"He enjoyed life to the full".
The Cardiff High School student had not attended school that day but arrived nearby just as pupils were boarding buses to go home.
The school held special assemblies on Tuesday morning and has offered counselling to pupils.
Cardiff High head teacher, Mike Griffiths, said: "The thoughts and prayers of the pupils and staff of the school are with Luke's family as they try to come to terms with his death."
The accident happened as the bus travelled next to Roath Park along Lake Road West towards the city, not far from the school.
The bus, which was a regular service, was taken out of service following the crash.
A spokesman for Cardiff Bus said: "Cardiff Bus is working closely with the police, who are investigating this terrible accident, and wishes to express its condolescences and sympathy to everyone involved.
"Cardiff Bus officials have been there at the scene and talked to people who witnessed the incident."
He said the driver of the bus was being looked after by company staff.
