Teenage singer Charlotte Church would make her boyfriend sign a prenuptial agreement if the couple were to wed.

Attending the London premiere of her debut film, 17-year-old Church admitted that her relationship with Cardiff DJ Steven Johnson upset her family.

Her mother, Maria, accompanied the star to the screening of romantic comedy I'll Be There in Leicester Square on Wednesday night.

Eighteen-year-old Mr Johnson did not attend but he had been with the singing star at Monday night's special showing of the film in Cardiff.

But Church denied she had organised separate premieres to keep the two apart.

"The truth is my family are here because they wanted to come to the big one in London," she said.

"Steven and my friends went to the one in Cardiff because that's where they live".

Church, who is believed to have amassed a 16m fortune, said she would make legal arrangements when she gets married.

"I'm not engaged, so there's no prenuptial agreement, but there probably will be as soon as I decide to get married."

She admitted that her family did not think Mr Johnson was "the ideal person" for her.

"My mum doesn't like Steven," she said.

"I'm sure there are thousands of mothers across the country who don't like their daughter's boyfriends, but it just so happens everyone is interested in mine.

"In a perfect world, my mum and Steven would get on. But if it doesn't happen the situation is liveable".

"My boyfriend's lovely and I love him to bits.

"He has no problem with my family - my family don't like him and it could be a better situation, but it's fine.

"I get on with my mum and I get on great with Steven so I've got the best of both worlds."

Church wore a lacy designer dress and a diamond necklace at the premiere, which was also attended by her step dad, grandmother and aunt.

Her 37-year-old mother Maria said she was "absolutely over the moon" about the movie.

"I'm very excited and I'm very, very nervous for her".

  • I'll Be There will be released across the UK on 20 June.
