The defendant tried to escape from Mold Crown Court |
Quick-thinking court officers managed to trap a prisoner after he made a bid for freedom at a court in north Wales on Tuesday. Lester Poynton from Blacon near Chester is charged with stealing a bulldog from the Prestatyn area.
The 34-year-old is also accused of blackmailing the pets owners to ensure its safe return.
He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Ran out
Mr Poynton ran out of Mold Crown Court on Tuesday breaking a glass door as he made his escape, after he was refused bail.
He vaulted out of the dock and ran into the foyer.
A woman police officer chased the defendant out of the court where he was caught by security staff.
He will now appear at Caernarfon Crown Court on 9 May.
