Resort joins 'Millionaire's Row'
Plas Craig, Llandudno
Llandudno is now a sought after area
The buoyant housing market in north Wales has seen the emergence of a "Millionaire's Row" in a traditional seaside resort.

Estate agents report more well-paid workers are prepared to move to the area and commute down the A55 to Liverpool, Chester and Manchester.

The Victorian resort of Llandudno is traditionally thought of as a budget break resort, but that image is changing.

The well-paid commuter effect on prices is also being felt at the nearby luxury development at Gannock Park, Deganwy.

Close to Llandudno's biggest attraction, Great Orme, is Llys Helig Drive, a strip of eight or nine houses, with sea views and beach frontage.

Local people jokingly call the area "Millionaire's Row" but one house has actually come on to the market which could fetch up to 1m.

One Llys Helig home formerly belonged to a well-known Premiership footballer and a football manager currently owns another property.

Property agents Cavendish Flint said the house - Plas Craig - at Llys Helig Drive was the most expensive on their books, with an asking price in excess of 900,000.

Despite the price tag, the agents report two potential buyers expressing strong interest in the four-bedroomed house, which is set in one-and-a-half acres.

With a view of Puffin Island, security gates, beach frontage and foreshore rights, the house has the trappings of a luxury home in Malibu, California, but without the weather.

"The views from the house are stunning. Whoever bought this would be a professional person with a substantial income," said Cavendish Flint negotiator Samantha Roberts.

"There are people living here who work away during the week and then come back here to a relaxing lifestyle.

"This area is known locally as 'Millionaire's Row' but there has never been any snobbery about it.

"It has a private access road from Great Orme and it is the most expensive in Llandudno."

The town has also benefited from the 1m development of new business units by Mostyn Estates.

The development covers the old dairy and storage buildings on Builder Street in the town.

The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) is investing more than 300,000 in the project.
