Tractor tests after farm boy's death
Map of Penmynydd area
The accident happened at Penmynydd, near Llangefni.
Health and safety officials are to carry out tests on tractor machinery from a north Wales farm where a 12-year-old boy was fatally injured.

Ifan Thomas died on Sunday following an accident involving machinery at his father's farm at Dragon Wen, Penmynydd, near Llangefni, on Anglesey.

He suffered severe arm and head injuries during the incident.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him on the way to Ysbyty Gwynedd, and hospital staff continued life-saving procedures, but he died despite all efforts.

An inquest into the death was expected to be opened and adjourned on Monday.

The boy was reported to have been caught by the tractor's power take-off shaft - a piece of machinery which spins between the tractor and the vehicle it is pulling.

It is thought part of his clothing may have become become tangled.

The coroner has been informed, and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation into the accident, which happened just after 1100 GMT on Sunday.

Various equipment has been taken away for examination.

Family liaison officers from North Wales Police have been offering counselling to the boy's family.

Farmers Union of Wales president Bob Parry has expressed his sympathy for the family.

But, he added : "It shows how dangerous machinery can be."
