| Saturday, 11 January, 2003, 15:46 GMT Drivers praised in missing man search ![]() Richard Davies has been missing for three weeks A woman whose husband disappeared during a pre-Christmas works party has thanked Cardiff taxi and bus drivers for their help during an appeal on Friday night. Michelle Davies spent the evening handing out leaflets and putting up posters across the city, and said the response from drivers had been "fantastic".
Father-of-two Richard Davies, 39, from Blaenavon, became separated from his friends in St Mary Street shortly before 2300 GMT on 20 December. Mrs Davies hoped her appeal on Friday would turn up some fresh leads, as the family was "desperate" to find out any information about his disappearance. "The response from the drivers was fantastic - what a community," she said. "They took the leaflets and said they would put them wherever they were going." Mrs Davies said she went home after she had done as much as she possibly could to try and find details about her husband. "We got to the point where we couldn't put up any more posters," she said.
"I don't think you can go into the area of Cardiff without seeing something," she added. However she - and children Justin, 13 and Charlotte, 10 - are still waiting to hear any news. "We have still not had a response - the police are keeping me updated," she added. Earlier, she had said her husband had "basically disappeared off the face of the earth". "I'm hoping that the posters and leaflets will trigger a memory with someone who saw him and can put him in a place and time for me," she said. Separated Mr Davies left home at 0900 GMT on the day he went missing. After spending the morning go-karting in Newport, he and his colleagues caught the 1600 GMT train to drink at a number of city centre bars and pubs in Cardiff. He was wearing navy trousers and a light blue shirt and was last seen at a bar called Reflex in St Mary St. Mr Davies is described as being 5ft 11 inches tall, of medium build and with brown hair. Gwent Police officers are liaising with South Wales Police in their investigation to trace Mr Davies.
