Christopher Davies was cleared by magistrates at Wrexham in September of allegedly sending offensive or indecent messages to the teenager. By resigning, Mr Davies, 27, of Northop Hall, near Mold, will not now have to face an internal disciplinary hearing. In court, the constable accepted he had acted naively but strenuously denied that any of the text messages he exchanged with 15-year-old girl - were of an improper nature.
Mr Davies had said the text calls were friendly banter and general chit-chat. He had also given the teenager advice but said that it was nothing he did not do with other members of the public. He added that she seemed to be able to confide in him. He met the girl while investigating an alleged assault on her and later she texted him to complain about bullying at school. | See also: 08 Jul 02 | Science/Nature 25 Mar 02 | dot life 02 Sep 02 | Wales 03 Sep 02 | Wales Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Wales stories now: Links to more Wales stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
